The Great Alaskan Tour

Stewart-Hyder-Metlakatla-Hydaburg-Craig-Klawock-Point Baker-Ketchikan

This cover a huge area of the southwestern Alaska.

The weather was pretty bad in Stewart and I had to start my tour in IFR-mode. I was told that the weather would be better as soon as I closed in on Metlakatla. Lets hope they are right.

It was time to return to my Beaver and I was told by the engineer that everything was fine and he promised me that nothing would go wrong, he just had to fine tune and replace some parts and everything was fine again.

Here Is my beauti ready for take off from Stewart

Just a short hop to Hyder, just take off and then down for landing. and the weather was really bad, all fogged in.

And here are some IFR-conditions

As soon I was passing above the fog I got the beautiful view of Alaska again, and I had a great trip over to Metlakatla

And I really can understand why they call it the Misty Fjord

The trip over the mountains and out the fjords went fine and after a quiet descending, well a lot of wind enroute, 60 knots at 6000 feet, and 25 knots at 1000 feet gave me an interesting approach and final.

But finally I was docked and safe in Metlakatla.

Next hop was to Hydaburg, the strong winds continued on 6000 feet but a strong and healthy airplane had no problems at all.

The approach and landing in Hydaburg was a great experience, and a lovely sight for sure

The next hop to Craig will almost be straight north, it was just to fire up the Beaver and go on.

The wind continue to be strong and steady at 60 knots and the airplane got some tough side winds now and then, but it managed.

The landing at Craig went fine as well.

It is a very short hop from Craig to Klawock, just up and then down again. and it went really fine. Had to fill fuel in Klawock as well, both for my plane and myself :)

Approaching Klawock

After some good coffee and some talk with the locals it was time to move on and a hop up to Point Baker. Here I'm leaving Klawock behind me and climbing for Point Baker

Climbing_to_Point_Baker.jpg

The landing in Point Baker was without any problem and soon I was docked.

The last hop, from Point Baker down to Ketchikan was the longest hop and it was late in the afternoon and some scenic views from my cockpit. A lovely flight.

Here I'm climbing out from Point Baker

Enroute to Ketchikan

The descend to Ketchikan has started and here on final.

Nydelig.

Nydelig Jan Arild!

Dette har jeg sans for. Hvilke scenery addons benytter du her?.....

Tusen takk for flott feedback alle sammen!

- Flight Environment X

- Aktive Sky X

- Active Graphics X

- FS Commander 8.2 for ruteplanlegging/kart

About TGAT
