Scandinavian VACC seeking Pilot Relations Manager

Are you an experienced VATSIM pilot? Do you want to give something back to the VATSIM community by sharing your knowledge with others? Then you might be the right person to be the Pilot Relations Manager for the Scandinavian VACC.

 

VACCSCA is looking for a Pilot Relations Manager (PRM) who will make the life of VATSIM pilots in Scandinavia a bit easier. The main responsibilities of the PRM are to make sure that pilots can find the information that they need on the VACCSCA website. This includes basic information on how to start flying online, links to charts, flight plans and scenery, as well as information on more advanced flying procedures.

 

A lot of this information is already available on our website, but the information needs to be kept up-to-date and it needs to be expanded and improved – a big part of this is to decide the contents of the new VACCSCA website which is currently in development.

 

Have you noticed that fellow pilots struggle with certain procedures or instructions? Do they find it difficult to fly a full procedure IFR approach? Are they unfamiliar with VFR phraseology? Use your experience to write a tutorial, and team up with our event staff to organise an event focusing on improving these piloting skills. The only limit here is your imagination!

 

Qualifications

For the Pilot Relations Manager position we are looking for someone who:

• Is an experienced VATSIM pilot who flies in the VACCSCA area on a regular basis (and we expect you to continue to do so also when acting as the PRM!)

• Preferably has some background in real world aviation – this will give us a guarantee that you have valuable experience, but it is not a requirement

• Is familiar or is willing to become familiar with flying procedures as they apply in the VACCSCA area (including local procedures in different countries and at major airports, VFR procedures, AFIS, and radio communications in your native language, as well as English)

• Is interested in learning about new procedures and regulations and finding ways to implement them in VACCSCA

• Is willing to work independently to write new guidance material for pilots, as well as update existing material on the VACCSCA website.

• Has an excellent command of English as well as one other VACCSCA language (Icelandic, Danish, Norwegian or Swedish)

 

Note that there is no requirement to hold any ATC rating for this position. The PRM is entirely about the pilot’s perspective, so ATC experience is largely irrelevant.
