Ryan Air beställde idag y 70 st Boeing 737-800 + en option på ytterligare 70stycken.

 

Uppenbarligen har Ryan Air enorma expansionsplaner. Tror ni det är i Östeuropa Ryan Air vill expandera..i det "nya EU"?

 

Bolaget har idag 73stycken Boeing 737-800 i trafik och 152stycken 737-800 lagda fasta ordrar + minst option på ytterligare 70 stycken 737-800.

Dessutom flyger Ryan Air idag ett för mig okänt antal Boeing 737-200/300.

 

Boeing 737-800 måste vara billigare än A320 och bättre lämpat för lågkostnadsoperationer enligt Ryans koncept eftersom bolaget har valt denna typ för sin enorma expansion.

"SEATTLE, Feb. 24, 2005 -- Boeing [NYSE:BA] today confirmed it has reached agreement with Ryanair for the airline's purchase of 70 additional Boeing 737-800 airplanes, with options for up to 70 more airplanes, in one of the largest orders for the Next-Generation 737. The value of the agreement for the 70 firm airplanes is 4.6 billion USD at list prices. The total value of the deal if all options are exercised is $9.2 billion. The agreement is subject to the approval of Ryanair shareholders this Spring.

 

"The Next-Generation 737 has played a big role in Ryanair's leadership in the low-cost carrier market, and we are thrilled that Ryanair and Boeing will continue this wonderful partnership for many years to come," said Alan Mulally, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Ryanair is Boeing's largest customer outside the U.S. for the Next-Generation 737. It now has 73 Next-Generation 737-800s with an additional 152 on order, excluding options, after today's announcement. Ryanair ordered its first 737-800 in March 1998 and received its first aircraft in 1999."

Ryanair fikk (igjen) en ganske heftig rabatt på dette, da Boeing skulle fylle productionslots, omtrent som at de første flysetene på en flight er billigere enn de siste.

 

I tillegg til en massiv ordre, har Ryanair også bestilt ett par hundre winglets som resten av flåten (altså de B738 som allerede er levert) skal utrustet med:)

 

Det er også snakk om at Malaysian Airlines har en ordre på gang, på ca 60 B737NG. Det går godt for Boeing om dagen:)

Ja.. og Icelandair starter friskt på 2005 med en ordre på 10 stk 737-800 og i dag 2 stk 787-800 tipper jeg skal en tur med Icelandair når de kommer i trafikk.

 

De 10 B738 de har bestilt skal leases ut, akkurat som Icelandair sine B767-300ER, det er ikke maskiner de bruker på sine ruter.
