Start Flight Simulator Once Flight Simulator is running ... 2.) Click FLIGHTS --> MULTIPLAYER --> CONNECT 3.) PLAYER NAME: ME {or whatever else you want to you} 4.) Click on the HOST Button Another screen will be displayed ... 5.) SESSION NAME: MY SESSION {or whatever you want to use} 6.) SET MAX PILOTS = 16 7.) Click on OK Button Wait for the Screen to disappear and then ... If your in Full Screen Mode ... 8.) Press <ALT-ESC> to go back to your desktop If your in Windowed Mode ... 8.) Minimize you Flight Simulator Screen ... Please pay attention to the next set of instructions they may seem a bit odd but if you follow them, the system will work. 9.) Click START --> PROGRAMS --> SquawkBox for FS2002 --> SB Host for 2002 Once that is running ... 10.) Click START --> PROGRAMS --> SquawkBox for FS2002 --> SB Main Program SquawkBox Multiplayer Window do nothing just ... 11.) Click on OK Button SquawkBox Multiplayer - Multiplayer Games Window ... 12.) Click on Start Search Another Window will pop-up titled, "Locate Session", simply ... 13.) Click on OK Button You should now see your game (Session Name) on the list if you do not then ... 14.) Type 127.0.0.1 into the box in the previous step and try again You should now see your game (Session Name) on the list ... 15.) Highlight your session 16.) Click on the JOIN Button You will now see a screen with a picture of an aircraft on it at this point ... 17.) Click on the large button at the bottom of this window, "Click Here to Get Into the Action" You should now see a Darker Window inside of a lighter Window. From this point forward that Darker Window will be called the SB Main Window 18.) Right Click inside the SB Main Window You will see a menu appear 19.) Click ATC Functions --> Change Callsign You will be prompted for a Callsign, most callsigns are formatted like (N45WT, UAL4456, BIZ3321, etc.) 20.) Type the callsign you wish to use 21.) Click OK Button You should now be back at the SB Main Window 22.) Right Click inside the SB Main Window You will see a menu appear 23.) Click ATC Functions --> File Flight Plan You will see a virtual Flight Plan appear. At this point we only need a few pieces of information to get going, at the bottom of the plan ... 24.) Type your First Name 25.) Type your Last Name 26.) Type your Home Base (this is your home airport like KONT, KIAH, KATL, etc.) 27.) Click on OK Button You should now be back at the SB Main Window 28.) Right Click inside the SB Main Window You will see a menu appear 29.) Click Connect We have taken the liberty of updating the list of servers with both networks. Vatsim and IVAO. However, your pilot registration number and password are different between Vatsim and IVAO 30.) Select a server from the list (preferably something close to you) 31.) Make sure your Callsign is correct 32.) Type your Pilot Registration Number 33.) Type your Password 34.) If you understand how to utilize Roger Wilco enter the address of the server here (if not leave it blank) 35.) Again, if you know how to use Roger Wilco leave the Check in the Box to the right that reads "User Roger Wilco Voice". (If you do not then UNCHECK this box for now.) 36.) Click on the OK Button to connect to the network. Now you should be connected to either of the two networks. If you are not and have received an error, post your question or problem on the SB for FS2002 forum at www.simclients.com. (Sorrry did not have time to discuss errors here) 37.) Right Click in the SB Main Window 38.) Select ATC Directory You should see a list of all the ATC that is currently online. Within range of where you aircraft is parked. 39.) Select the ATC you want to work with Now it is finally time to get back into Flight Simulator. 40.) Find the window for Flight Simulator on your task bar and Maximize it. Now you are in Flight Simulator, you may see text scrolling across the top, or you may see the FS Chat Window Open. If you do not see the chat window ... 41.) Press the ENTER key This Window is where you will communicate with ATC. You can <ALT-TAB> out to the SB Main Window but it is not necessary unless there is some other function you want to do that can't be done by a "DOT" command. Simply type in your text or "DOT" commands here and they are sent to the SB Main Window automatically. You will quickly notice that the window does not scroll properly. Everything that gets entered into the window either from you or ATC resets the chat window back to the top. There are two tools included with SB for FS2002 take a look at the FS Chat Window Fix Readme file in the Squawkbox for FS2002 Program Group in your start menu (START --> PROGRAMS --> SquawkBox for FS2002 --> README File) Those two programs are very easy to use, you simply start whichever one you want after starting Flight Simulator and away you go. FS Chat Window Fix: Moves the focus of the cursor to the bottom of the Flight Sim Chat window every time new text or commands are added. FS Chat Window Fix with Auto Show (PREFERRED METHOD): Moved the focus of the cursor to the bottom of the Flight Sim Chat window every time new text or commands are added and it also makes the Chat Window automatically appear if any text is added to the window at all. (Works functionally the same way the standard Flight Simulator ATC window works.). We prefer this method because it makes sure you have received all the commands necessa Siter
