Jan Arild Gjemble Skrevet 28. september 2008 Skrevet 28. september 2008 The next morning while I was eating breakfast i got a phone from my Boss, asking if I was up to for a sightseeing trip for a group of 4 that wanted to see the Copper River and also the Copper Mine near McCarthy. Their fathers Grandfather had lived in McCarthy and worked at the Copper Mine for almost 20 years and they would love to see the place before they was going back to Valdez. As usual I'm up to all kinds of challenges, and I was a bit curious myself on how it was up in McCarthy, both with the Copper Mine and also near the Glacier. I knew that this trip was going to be slow, as they wanted to see all of Copper Valley and also a lot of stops due to resting and eating proper food on our way, but the weather forecast seems ok and I would love to take it slow for once. My boss told me that my Beaver would be flown up to Duffys Tavern from Cordova and would be ready for the flight the next morning. Well there was not much for me to do, so I started to make my quality control of the beer I flew in yesterday. Next morning I wake up early and the passengers was ready at Duffys Tavern eating a good breakfast. After awhile we was on our way towards Christochina and Gullkana The weather was great, just light clouds and my passenges had a blast of their time. They was talking a lot about McCarty and I learned alot about the life in McCarthy in the old days. We was planning to have a longer stop at Gullkana for a lunch. After lunch we flew down to Chitina for a quick stop and some refuelling. After the short stop we take off and headed for McCarthy This landscape and the views is marvelous and almost take my breath away, and following the valley up to McCarthy and landing at McCarthy was really some sight. While my passengers went on their expidition in McCarty I was able to catch up some of the paperwork I had to do, and after 3 hours they was back at the airport ready to go to Valdez. After take off we passed the old mine in McCarthy, and they was able to take this picture of it as well. As we was closing in on Valdez there was more clouds coming in and I decided to follow the road to Valdez just to be safe. Soon we had Valdez in front of us. It was a beautiful evening as this picture describe. And at last back on ground in Valdez. Looking forward to get some sleep and relax a couple of days until I get the phone from my boss to tell me my next destination. Siter
