Heiv meg i bilen med kamera og kikkert og rakk å knipse et par bilder. Desverre var det noen mindre hyggelige karer i vaktbua, så jeg måtte ta bildene fra utsiden av gjerdet.. Wide-body tactical airlifter, capable of operating on a variety of surfaces. In comparison with the C-5 Galaxy, which can only utilize approx. 120 airfields, the C-17 can utilize over 19000 airfields all over the world. The first production aircraft rolled out in December 1990, with the first flight on the 15. September 1991. The C-17 is able to carry a multitude of loads, and is capable of airdropping the US-Army's latest infantry fighting vehicle. A special feature on the C-17 is the externally blown flaps, a system designed to reduce final approach and landing speed.
