FROM THE VICE-PRESIDENT, DEVELOPMENT:

 

Please be advised that there is a conflict between

all current editions of SquawkBox and DirectX 8.2.

This error will cause dialogs such as \\'Send AddPlayer

Req\\' to appear, and will prevent the multiplayer

element of SquawkBox from operating. Under Flight

Simulator 2002, this will prevent the Flight

Simulator\\'s Multiplayer Chatbox being used to send

commands and text to SquawkBox.

 

VATSIM advises its users not to use DirectX 8.2 if

they wish to use SquawkBox online. DirectX 8.2 is

automatically installed by some software, including

Microsoft\\'s Combat Flight Simulator 3. Users have

reported being able to uninstall DirectX 8.2 using

the system rollback function under Windows XP, but

we cannot guarantee the success of this method.

 

Please note that VATSIM do not provide support for

software, and that users undertake any of the

above operations at their own risk. Problems and
