MS Flight removed many of the elements we believe necessary for the flying experience we wish to convey.. ATC and AI traffic being great examples. It made more sense for us to focus some of our efforts on necessary graphical improvements and build on top of the complex systems already inherent within FSX. Rather than try to build them all over again or find a way to integrate them back into Flight.

We are not updating the core FSX engine. We are using it as a starting point to build upon. All game developers do this. They take the best of the existing technology they have and develop it further. If it is not broke, don't fix it as they say. For example, take Unreal Engine 4. When Epic made that they didn't just throw Unreal Engine 3 out of the window and start from scratch. Instead they took all the things which were great and worked well in UE 3, then built upon them and added new features. As part of our partnership with Microsoft we have access to all their flight sim technology. Having reviewed it and look at our options, we felt that FSX offered the best foundations for us to build something new on. It also helped that we had lots of experience using it from our work on FSX: Steam Edition.

Development has always been like to this to some extent within the industry. Ever brand new game engines builds upon and use the features from a generation before. For example we have worked a lot with Unreal Engine 4 for our new Train Sim and Euro Fishing. When Epic made Unreal Engine 4 they didn't just throw out everything from Unreal Engine 1-3. They took all of the things they have learned and tools in 1-3 and said: right, how can we make these even better?

Think of it like this. You are going to build a new house on a plot of land which already has a house on it. You knock down the existing house but the foundations beneath the ground are still good and will make for a great platform for building your new house on. What is the point of completely digging them up and replacing them with new ones which do the same thing? What will you gain by doing that? As they say, why reinvent the wheel just for the sake of it?

FSUIPC will not be supported because we want to make sure it is not needed in the first place. Lots of the most well know add-ons that you all love are there to add functionality and features which were never there to start with.

Our biggest limitation is time. There are lots of things we would like to do but we also want to get the new sim out some time before 2050. This is why have been very open about how not everything we plan to do will be there day one.

Ny teaser trailer sluppet.
