Stian Rolandsen Skrevet 1. februar 2009 Del Skrevet 1. februar 2009 Orker ikke oversette så... Hi, It's been a while since my last post here in the screenshot forum. This is mainly because I haven't had anything new to show off. Well, now I do. I got something big new and shiny.... The wonderful PMDG MD11. Over the last couple of days I have spent quite a few hours in the cockpit off this bird and the more time I spend there, the more I fall in love with it. My first flight was the tutorial from London to Zurich and then I did a Martinair Cargo from Seattle to Amsterdam. Both these flights ended badly as I got a CTD somewhere during both flights. A couple of CTD's isn't enough to put this bird in the hangar though, and I'm sure it wasn't the bird causing them in the first place. So after taking the Fokker from Amsterdam to Zurich I decided to give it another go and took the bird out for a spin again. This time from Zurich to Mumbai: I arrived in Mumbai without any problems and I was hooked. Next up was Mumbai to Taipei as LH8030 Taxi to the active while going through the taxi checklist I waited for a Kingfisher A320 to land and clear the rwy, but soon it was my turn to blast into the skies The route out from Mumbai was cloudy, but still gave me a lot of nice scenery to enjoy while climbing between cloud layers Siter Lenke til kommentar Del på andre sider
Stian Rolandsen Skrevet 1. februar 2009 Forfatter Del Skrevet 1. februar 2009 After that first cloudy part I got blue skies and the journey to Taipei was a joy After 5 hours and some minutes I was on final for Taipei's rwy 5. I had one CX 744 about 8 miles ahead of me and I heard on the ATC that a Thai Airbus was in line behind me somewhere. Weather was nice and winds calm so I was expecting a normal landing. I landed safely and got instructions to taxi to the other side of the airport to park. This beauty of a three-holer is joy to taxi anyway so I was happy all the way to my parking. With that flight done I needed a connection to Hong Kong and caught a ride with the friendly guys in a Cathay 747. From Hong Kong I was set up on a flight to Almaty in Kazakhstan with another of Lufthansa's MD11 freighter. The flight wasn't exactly eventful to begin with, but a little over halfway there we passed over some stunning scenery that I just had to take a couple of "photos" of. When we got nearer to Almaty we noticed the dense layer of clouds that the WX report had mentioned and I was starting to doubt if we could even find the airport. We turned over the Almaty VOR (ATA) Located just a few miles east of the rwy 23 threshold and suddenly caught a glimpse of the ground below. And right after we "dove" into the clouds and crossed out fingers that we would only need one attempt to get this lady safely on the ground. 3-4 miles out we still didn't have visual with the rwy but the visibility was better that first expected after reading the METAR enroute. Stian Rolandsen Skrevet 1. februar 2009 Forfatter Del Skrevet 1. februar 2009 As you can see from the following shot we made it down safe The rwy at Almaty is long and the taxiways leading off it is located at the 05 end, so we had a pretty long backtrack to do to get off the rwy. Only hope the tower don't clear another aircraft to land while we are still on it. To finish this off I can only say WOW. WOW Powering world trade, and WOW what a beauty from PMDG. Thanks for watching, I hope you have enjoyed it half as much as I did flying these flights. Mates Siter Lenke til kommentar Del på andre sider
